Walking around Southern Higashiyama

After visiting Kiyomiza-Dera, we walked around the Southern Higashiyama area. There were plenty of small stores and street vendors. Many of the sold ice cream (mostly soft-serve) in favors that I've never had. Actually, I've noticed these all around Kyoto. Ice cream everywhere. Today I tried half green tea/half cherry blossom. Very yummy. There are also plenty of sweet shops - this seem to be very popular, too.

these beverage vending machines are everywhere - both in Kyoto as well as Japan. Most, like this one, offer both hot and cold beverages.

This is Ishibel-koji, which according to our guide book, is perhaps one of the most beautiful street in Kyoto. It was pretty and quant, but that seemed like an awfully tall order. ;)
