Wallace's New Raincoat

Wallace's new raincoat arrived today. We really like it. It fits him well (with some extra room for comfort) and is quite stylish and well made! He walked around in it and seemed very comfortable, and it stayed in place! It was about twice the price of the last one we had, but for something that actually works for us, it was so worth the extra money. I'm glad it arrived today - it's supposed to start raining tonight, and throughout most of the the week. Good timing!

Lucky 777!!!

Today, Wallace hit 777 followers on Instagram! Not bad for a little rescue pup, who just started his account about 1-1/2 years ago.

Wallace Instagram account has been such a fun thing for both of us. He only follows other dogs, so we have had a great time seeing other cute dogs and sharing adventures with so many of them.

This may become a dangerous habit

Second time making cinnamon rolls, and I think they turned out even better this time. The dough rose more, both before and after it was rolled.

I divided the rolls into two plans this time: one to bake tonight, and the second went into the freezer. I figured we shouldn't have twelve cinnamon rolls all at once, so I'm going to try to see how they freeze to enjoy another time.

Lime

When some of the limes on your lime tree rippen and look like lemons, this is how my husband makes sure we know which is which. :)

The first Doodle Romp of the Year

It was such a beautiful morning for a Doodle Romp at Crissy Field!! Wallace got to see and play with so many of his friends.

Dirty Doodle

We had a great time at the SF Doodle Romp this morning. It has rained here for the last two days, so we knew it would be a muddy Romp. I told Wallace to plan on a bath afterwards, so he made the most of it!!

We started off at the grassy/wet/muddy field, then we made our way down to the beach.

Wallace was one happy little guy.

Rororiri

Wallace and I returned to Rororiri, the cute doggie boutique where is beautiful Hoodie came from. We wanted to see how a size Medium would fit him (JD bought him a S/M, and though it fit very well, I thought it might be better to size up to give him more room since his hair grows pretty long). The medium fit great, and we were lucky, as it was the last one in stock at the moment.

We had a great time visiting with the owner/designer, Rita, and her maltipoo, Rosie. We'll definitely be back!

Nighttime Selfie

Instant Pot!!

My parents bought us an Instant Pot for Christmas!! Yay! So far, we've used it four times, and everything has turned our great so far!!

We went simple for our first go - boiled eggs for our Curry Egg Salad recipe. The eggs were absolutely perfect. They all peeled easily, and looked beautiful.

Next, we made the black eye peas for last nights dinner. They were very good, although slightly softer than Dick's preference, but still very good.

This morning, I made steel cut oatmeal with cinnamon and apples. It was a game changer!! I almost always make steel cut oatmeal for breakfast on weekdays. Our morning routine is that I walk Dick down to the Muni Metro station then walk back home before boiling the water before cooking the oatmeal for 30 minutes. Depending on what time Dick leaves for work, I usually don't eat breakfast until 9:30 or so. With the Instant Pot, I can put everything in, and have it cook the oatmeal for me while I'm out walking. It turned out really great, and is a game changer for my morning routine!!

Tonight I tried something different: I went to the grocery store this afternoon, planning to bake some fish tonight. There were no fish that I was excited about, but they had beautiful muscles at a reasonable price. I had seen a recipe for muscles in white wine in the cookbook my parents had given us with the Instant Pot, so I bought them. We made them tonight, and they were amazing!! I mean, really amazing!! I had made muscles one other time, but it was years ago. This recipe was so simple and fast, and so delicious!!

So, that's four Instant Pot recipes in three days. We're on a roll, and we are big fans!!

Sofa Dog is back!!

Last month, maybe 3-4 weeks ago, Wallace stopped coming up to the sofa on his own. We don't know why he stopped, but I really missed having him up here. I especially missed the sofa cuddles, especially since he is not a lap dog.

Tonight, he hopped up on the sofa to be with us. It made me so happy. He got lots of rubs from both me and Dick, and then he laid down and leaned up against my legs.

I'm so happy to have my sofa dog back!

New Year's Day Dinner

Facebook has a feature that shows you posts/photos that you have posted on the same day in previous years. I noticed that all the photos from this day, January 1st, always shows this exact meal: our traditional Southern New Year's Day dinner. Eastern Carolina style BBQ, Collard Greens and Black Eye Peas.

Happy 2018, and here's to Health, Happiness and Prosperity to all.

Happy New Year!!

We had a fun night at David and Miguel's. Cocktails, wine, yummy snacks and board games!

Dick and I left just a bit early and got home in time to beat the traffic, and watch the fireworks from our balcony.

Happy 2018!! Wishing you all a year of health, peace, happiness and love.
