The last batch of Plum Jam for 2018

I managed to get another 15 jars of jam made today. This will he the last batch. There are still some, but not many plums left in the trees. I took the nets down today and climbed on a chair to pick the remaining plums that I could reach.

In total, I think I made about 66 jars this year, which is a great amount! It was the first time that I didn't feel overwhelmed by Plumpacalypse. It was all quite manageable, yet fruitful! ;)

I'll try to take a picture of all the jars tomorrow. I need to order labels now that I know how many jars we have for the season.

Kayak & Buster

Wallace and I got a great surprise at Crissy Field when we got to see Kayak and Buster (and Greg and Mike, too!) We had a great time catching up with them at the beach. Between the mini Doodle Romp, then playing with Kayak and Buster, Wallace should be exhausted by the end of the day.

Mini Doodle Romp

Wallace had a great time this morning at a mini-Doodle Romp at Crissy Field. His Instagram friend, Cooper, was in town, visiting from Southern CA with his family. A few of us got together so Cooper could meet and play with a bunch if his friends. We tried to take a group photo, but that didn't quite work out. Instead, here are a few photos in smaller groups.

Plum Jam 2018 Batch 4

I made my fourth batch of Plum Jam last night. I'm really liking this 1 Batch of jam every-other-day season so far. It is, by far, the most controlled season I've had so far.

Another 13-1/2 12-oz jars!

I think we may have one or two batches left. We'll see!

Sonoma Part Two: Gundlach Bundschu

Our second stop in Sonoma was Gundlach Bundschu. Another great winery that is 160 years old. Great wine, but the location/venue is really fabulous, and super dog friendly!!

Dick and I tasted a flight if the reserve wine on their patio and had a small lunch of salami, olives, and bread (and cheese for me).

Wallace made himself very comfy on the patio while we had lunch. We had a really nice walk around the grounds after.

Sonoma Part One: Artesa

We spent the late morning and early afternoon in Sonoma today. We belong to two wine clubs and needed to pick up our wine.

First stop was Artesa. We love the winery venue as well as the wine. Unfortunately, they are not a dog-friendly venue, so Wallace and I walked around the very pretty grounds and took photos while Dick went inside to pick up the wine and to do a little tasting.

3rd batch of Plum Jam

Finally got in a full batch today!!! I'm using most of the plums that are ripe this year. In other years, we've composted at least double the amount if plums that we've cooked with. There has been very little that has gone into the compost bin so far.

It's a thin crop this year. I think we may have one or maybe two more batches left on the trees.

Of the 6 years that I've been making the Plum Jam, this has by far been the most manageable, which has been nice! I hope to get four dozen 12-oz jars, but we'll see. So far, I have 26. One year, I only had enough plums to make 8 4-oz jars, which wasn't nearly enough. It has been a nice pace this year, while still having enough jars of jam to share.

Wallace at Crissy Field and Fort Point

Here are some photos I took of Wallace at Crissy Field and Fort Point yesterday. It was super windy at the beach!

Wallace's 15 minutes continue

Wallace has had quite the week! This morning, glassybaby shared his Pride photo on their Instagram account.

Free Slurpee Day!!

Happy July 11, 7-11, Free Slurpee Day!!

First (almost) full batch of jam for 2018

I finally had enough plums from the trees to make my first full batch of jam of the year. It's been a funny year for the plums (but at least I knew to expect it). We have a nice amount of plums on the tree, but not overwhelmingly so. If I can make a batch every other day or so for a few days, that would make it all very manageable, and we'll still have some jam to share.

Last night's batch make 10 full 12 oz jars of jam. It was super delish, too!!

Susie and Mike in SF!!

Susie and Mike came for a visit from Indianapolis today!!! Susie and I have been friends since 1991. I was so happy to spend the day with her and her wonderful husband, Mike this afternoon. They are lovers of dogs, so Wallace and I picked them up from BART, gave them a tour of our home, had lunch with them on Chestnut Street then took them to Crissy Field!! It was super windy on the beach at Crissy Field, but it mellowed by the time we walked to Fort Point.
