Summer Cut!

Here are some photos from Wallace's trip to the groomer today.

The first was taken just after I had dropped him off (you can see there are plenty of other fluffy friends for him to mingle with while he's there), the second was taken when I arrived to pick him up, but he wasn't quite done yet. I took the photo through the window, because I didn't want to distract him or excite him. The last two photos are his "after" photos. 😊 This is my favorite haircut that he's had since we have been bringing him to the groomer. I really like how short the hair on his head is, compared to other times when it was much more poofy.

The Shaggy D.A.

It's been 10 weeks since Wallace's last haircut. As much as I love the Shaggy D.A. Look on him, it's time for another Summer Cut.

Wallace & Kayak at Ocean Beach

Wallace and Kayak had a terrific morning running on Ocean Beach and playing in the Pacific Ocean this morning.

Wallace was a wet, tired and sandy dog on the way home, but he was very happy.

Nap Time

So, I just got home about half an hour ago, having just walked 10 miles, meeting a new dog sitter for Wallace, then taking Wallace to the dog park.

Um, shouldn't I be the one needing a nap?

Today's 10 mile walk

SF Doodle Romp at Alamo Square Park

Wallace had a great time running around with some of his favorite doodles at Alamo Square Park this morning.

The grass was a little wet, so his paws got a little muddy (middle photo). He looked like he was wearing boots! I had to give him a paw bath as soon as we got home.

JD and Ray are in SF for a few weeks, and they brought Jasper with them!! Jasper is an 8 month old goldendoodle, and Wallace and I were so excited to meet him today!!

We're hoping to have many play dates with them while they are here, and we're looking forward to seeing them often!!

Tuesday morning at Ocean Beach

Wallace, Dick and I had a fun morning at Ocean Beach today. We met up with Alexander and his girls, and they all had a great time running around, wresting and chasing birds. We also watched a seal pup get rescued!

Plum Jam 2017, Batches 7 & 8

It was another double batch jam day!

We made batches 7 & 8 today, which were each 16 jars.

Our first batch was last Saturday, July 1st. Since then, we have made a total of 115 12-oz jars of Plum Jam!! A new record (by far!) and we're still not done.

The raw plum fruit mix for the eighth batch looks a lot different than the others, so I took a photo of it (plums in the kitchen sink). 1/2 of the plums are from the tree closer to the house, which are darker. Usually, these plums ripen earlier and fall earlier (presumably from getting more sun) than the larger tree in the back. We hadn't had as many drop as early as we usually do, but this morning we had more than we had for the rest of the batches. Dick says that if we were a winery, we'd call batch eight our "Special Reserve". :)

The plums have finally stopped dropping so quickly, so we think we probably only have another batch or two. I had to order more jars online so we'll be able to make up to two more batches.

It's always a crazy time when we are inundated with all the ripe plums. We were lucky with the timing this year (that we were home, and not on our RV Trip the week before) but it kept us very busy since we had family visiting all last week. Meg and David were troopers and helped us collect and sort the plums a couple of times when the harvest was especially large!!

We probably only have another day or two to go. I'll report back in when we've reached the end of Plumpacalypse 2017!
