Christopher Robin

Barry, Andy and I went to see the matinee of "Christopher Robin" at the theater today. Andy even brought his very own bear (named Pooh) from his childhood. We all enjoyed the movie very much!!

Who are the people in your neighborhood?

From Wallace's Instagram acct:

I love these guys!! Most weekday afternoons, my Mom and I take a walk through the Castro (our neighborhood here in SF) to meet my Dad at the subway station on his way home from work. Along the way, I get to go "Trick or Treating"! That is, I see so many neighborhood human friends along the way, and they stop to say hello to me (and my Mom, I suppose) and give me treats!! It's amazing! I took this photo yesterday with a big group of my friends hanging outside @spikescoffee . I usually see them all here, or along our walk between our house and the coffee shop, sometimes on Castro St. This is Jerry, Chauncey, Ed and Ron. They're all so nice, and I love them! I'll call this "Wallace's Trick or Treating" Part 1. I'll try to have my Mom take more pictures of our other neighborhood friends over the next few days. I ❤️ San Francisco. I feel so lucky to live here! .

Wallace Loves Canine Circus School

We had our third session of Canine Circus School, Level 2 today.

Both the instructors and I have noticed that Wallace seems more relaxed and excited at class than he was in Level 1. I think he really enjoyed Level 1- he was always happy to be there, and he loves learning, but he always looked so serious like he was concentrating the entire time. I don't have any photos of him smiling during Level 1, just serious faces, which I assumed was because he was concentrating, or was tired.

From the first session of Level 2, it was become obvious that Wallace is much more relaxed and seems to be enjoying it all even more this time around. He often has a smile on his face and loves visiting with both trainers when we can. He is also more confident, refining the skills we learned before, understanding some that we were taught in Level 1, but have clicked for him in the last week or two. He also seems to be picking up on new tricks quicker now that he has a better understanding of how things work. It remarkable to watch!!

So far in Level 2, we are learning how to walk backwards, walk backwards between the handler's legs, bow the head, unroll a yoga mat using the dog's nose, lay down, and how to balance a hackey sack ball on the nose. Wallace is coming along on all of these tricks quite well so far.

We are also reinforcing tricks we learned in Circus 1: spin (in both directions), sit pretty, bow, put two front paws on the Handler's bent knee/on a box, walk through a hoop, and walk around a cone.

Wallace already has quite a lot of tricks up his sleeve already, and is learning so many more!!

We have next week off for Labor Day, so we'll have a couple of weeks to work on our new tricks.

Clean Windows!!!!

Yay!! For the first time in over two years, we have clean windows!!! We had street construction on our block for over a year and four months, so it wasn't worth having our windows cleaned during construction, and they just got filthy. After the road construction was done, I called the window cleaning company that we have used in the past, and found that we'd have to wait about three months before their next available appointment. They put me on a wait list, and luckily, we were able to get in about three weeks earlier than originally expected.

These guys are pretty amazing. They were able to clean all of our windows, inside and out, including the screens as well as all the glass on two balconies. It took two guts about 4-1/2 hours.

The windows (and now the house) look incredible!!! I know they won't stay this clean for long, but it is so worth having it done.

Erasure Concert!!!

What a great concert!! I don't think I ever stopped smiling!!!

"I tried to discover a little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason,
you know you're making me work so hard
That you give me no soul
I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me."

Sunday morning urban walk

When you have a friend visiting who loves to walk as much as you do, you wake up early, and walk 6-Miles round trip to bring home amazing pastries for breakfast!! Another hike up to Corona Heights via the Vulcan Stairs before lunch, and that gives you 9 Miles completed before 2:30. It's so much fun sharing San Francisco with friends by foot!

Dan and Nicole are here for a long weekend visit!! Nicole flew in yesterday early morning (on the red-eye from Maui!). Dan was in Southern CA and flew in yesterday afternoon.

Nicole and I spent the day at the Walt Disney Family Museum (after a quick detour for her to see the Mrs Doubtfire House).

We had a great dinner at Mama Ji's, then came home for the evening.

Dick took them out sailing today, so I hope to see some pics.

Dick and I did a nice little hike on the Land's End Trail today. He had never been to the Lands End Labyrinth before, and loved it. It was pretty foggy today, but it was actually a really nice day for a hike!
