Saturday's 10-mile Training Walk

Saturday morning's route

Saturday morning's 10-mile training walks was just beautiful. It was one of those perfect San Francisco mornings where the air is clear, the sun is out, but it was never too warm. It was just right.

We had a small group of walkers, as many people were away on vacation! Summer is here.

We met at the Warming Hut at 7:30am, and set out at 7:45.

Before we took off, I took my obligatory shot of the Golden Gate Bridge - it's always fun to compare week-to-week. We also had what looked to be a US military troupe pass us right before we left the Warming Hut. I'm not sure what they were doing, but it made for a pretty neat photo opp with them marching with the American flag with the SF skyline in the background.

We set out along Mason Street, and passed the Mark di Suervo Sculpture Installation along the way. (Thanks for the link, Linda!) These installations are really pretty beautiful to see in the early morning light on the grassy field.

We walked along the Ecology Trail in the Presidio, which came out at Inspiration Point. We took our first break of the day at the Presidio Golf Clubhouse.

We walked out of the Presidio, then walked down Lake Street for a good, long stretch. This was when I talked with Sandy, and learned some of her tips for her famous spaghetti sauce! :)

We walked into Lincoln Park, past the Legion of Honor, and down El Camino del Mar. All morning long, we had gorgeous views of the Bay and of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We had our second break at Baker Beach, then walked up hill on Lincoln for another nice stretch with beautiful views.

Here's a beautiful shot that Linda took of some of our walkers in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. What a gorgeous day!

We completed our walk in about 3.5 hours (including breaks).
