Safari #4

This morning's safari was all about tracking a mama leopard and her two cubs (about 3 months old). It took us a little while to find them, but when we did - oh, what a treat!!

When we first found them, the cubs were tucked away on a branchy mound, napping, while their mama watched from a distance. I wasn't able to get any good photos of the napping cubs, as the zoom in my phone's camera isn't strong enough. Dick took some great photos. I'll try to figure out how to add them later.

The cubs eventually woke up, and we followed them for the next hour and a half or so. It was really amazing to us that the mama leopard didn't seem to mind that we (3 range rovers) were following them around. Many people have asked how it is that we're in open-air vehicles. We've been told that these animals all were born in this area. They are used to the jeeps, and have never been threatened by them. They see us the same way that they would see another non-predatory animal.

Anyhow, we followed the leopard and her cubs for quite a while. It was really cute to watch the cubs play with each other, and with their mother. It was also sweet to see her cleaning and feeding them (again, I didn't get pictures of this, but Dick did.)

After we had our fill of the amazingness of the leopards and they continued on their journey, we continued on ours...

We stopped in a beautiful area for our morning coffee/hot chocolate.

We hopped back in our range rover and saw a few more great sites on our way back to our lodge.
