This was really amazing - we walked around the area that literally saw the rise and fall of the Roman Empire.
The Forum was the symbol of civic pride for 1,000 years. To see the ruins is both awe inspiring and beautiful in an odd way. The history of every building was incredible.
The first photo shows where Julius Ceasar's body was burned. He lived in a house very near it.
The marble columns with the scaffolding around them are over 50 feet tall.
The scale, history and age of the ruins are simply amazing.
