Sunday's 12 mile training walk with field trip tho the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund

Sunday's 12-mile route

Sunday's 12-mile training walk included a special field trip to the offices of one of our beneficiaries, The Breast Cancer Emergency Fund. This was my second time having the honor to visit their office, and I am so amazed at the great and important work that they do.

We headed out at 7:15 from the Transit Cafe in the Presidio. We walked through the Presidio, and out to Chestnut Street. We walked on Chestnut for about 1.5 miles, before turning onto Hyde Street, then turning to walk down the crooked block of Lombard Street.

We walked UP Lombard Street, all the way UP Telegraph Hill, all the way to Coit Tower.

We walked down the Greenwich Stairs, down to Levi Plaza Park.

Down the stairs...

No really - Stairs!

We had our break at the Ferry Building - always a favorite! Over the last 4 seasons that I've been training, I often got a Chocolate Croissant from the Acme Bread Company at the Ferry Building. It's delish! Today, I changed my way, and lived on the edge! I tried the famous Cheese Wheel that so many of my teammates love so much! It was really delicious, and didn't disappoint!

We walked down Howard Street, into the SOMA Neighborhood, on our way to visit the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund Offices.

Cool building on Howard Street with furniture attached to the outside of the building!

At 10:30am the wonderful representatives of the Breast Cancer Emergency Fund welcomed us to their offices (they are closed on weekends, so made a special trip for us!).

They did a wonderful job explaining all the hard work they do to help pay bills and offer services to patients with Breast Cancer. They have a great record of never having turned down a qualified guest. They gave us lots of impressive statistics and figures. I'll have to look them up and will post them here, soon.

You can see that the Immediate Impact Walk was a $25,000 and over donor!
