Sundance Cinema Seattle

Our favorite movie theater in San Francisco is the Sundance Kabuki Cinema in Japan town. It's great because they offer reserved seats, so you don't have to worry about getting there super early to get good seats, or a seat at all for a new release film. They also have certain theaters and a balcony that are for guests 21 or older only - which allows the patrons to drink from the full bar menu, and not to have to sit near noisy kids or giggly teens. :) They also offer a really nice food menu - so much more than popcorn and hotdogs. (although, to be fair, I usually do get popcorn)

Anyhow, it's pretty much the only theater Dick goes to in SF, as he simply doesn't have the patience to wait in line, and he really loves the adult-only part.

When we moved to Seattle Dick asked me if there was a Sundance Cinema in this area. For some reason, I answered, "no", without even looking it up. I knew there were only just a few of them around the country, and seriously, what are the chances that they would have one in each of the cities that we live in!

Turns out I completely lied - there is indeed one in Seattle! (as well as Madison, WI - where I've also lived - and Houston and West Hollywood.)

Dick hadn't had a chance to see the newest X-Men movie, so we went to the Seattle Sundance this afternoon. It was GREAT! It's just across the bridge from us, and only took about 15-20 minutes to get to. Frankly, that's the same amount of time that it takes us to drive from our home in SF to the SF Kabuki.

Bonus: inexpensive and available parking in a lot that was fairly large.

Oh, and the entire theater is always 21 and over only.

It's funny - I was reading a few online reviews about the Seattle Sundance Cinema on our way over today. They had a bunch of 5 star reviews, and a couple of 1 or 2 stars. The reason for the lower ratings: because they don't allow minors.

Um, that's kind of the point for some of us. :)
