Preparing for Plumpocalpyse 2014

"....Plums are coming..."

That's right - Plum Season in the backyard is soon approaching!!

Plumpocalypse 2014

Plumaggeddon

This year, we're going to try something new. We're especially concerned with the amount of dropped fruit this year, since I'm not living here full time to tend to the plums daily.

My parents and I devised a net system, which we're hoping will catch the falling plums, and suspend them over the grass/patio areas. I'm hoping that my Gay Boyfriend, who is living in our house in SF can then collect the plums from the nets every day or two.

We suspended the netting from the trees and fence posts, and used some stakes in the grass area.

We ran some tests, but tossing several plums in to the nets, and watching where they ended up. It seems like it may work! Keeping our fingers crossed.

Thanks, Mom and Dad, for helping out in the backyard today, and for helping me put this contraption together. Here's hoping it works!!! :)

Plums are ripening, and are a-plenty!

If you look closely, you'll be able to see a couple of plums that fell into the net while we were setting up.

Mom and Dad, testing the system by tossing test plums into the net from all directions

Hopefully, all plums will end up suspended in the net like these test ones!
