I am in the Chicago area visiting my very good friend, Tammy, for a couple of days. We started our day with a great breakfast, then headed out to Downtown Chicago.
We went to the new, Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. I hadn't been in about five years, and Tammy hadn't had a chance to see it yet. The collection there is so fantastic, and remains one of my favorite museums.
We had afternoon tea at the Russian Tea House, just off Michigan Ave. We've done English High Tea several times together in the past, but this was both of our first times having Russian High Tea.
Trina and Tammy having Russian High Tea - apparently, striped shirts were in fashion today!
After finishing our tea, we went back to the Art Institute of Chicago to go to our favorite Impressionism Wing. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the museum closes at 5:00, so we didn't have quite enough time to see all of our favorite pieces. Too bad, but happy that we saw what we did.

After leaving the museum, we walked around downtown a bit down Michigan Ave, and through Millennium Park. It was a really gorgeous day downtown.
Can you find our reflection in the Bean?
We decided to check out the bar in the new (to us) Trump Tower. We got there around 6:00, and had a glass of wine and cheese platter. This ended up being a perfect sized dinner, since we had had such a late lunch.
Tammy, relaxing in the bar of the Trump Tower - what a great view
It was a lovely evening - clear, and not cold at all. Walked back towards Millennium Park and thoroughly enjoyed the view along the way. The architecture of Chicago is always so stunning, and even more so on a clear, beautiful night.
