Today's 18-mile training walk!!

First 9-mile loop

This morning, we met at 6:30 for a big 18-mile training walk! The walk was split between two loops of 9-miles each, enabling some of our walkers to decide to walk 9 miles or all 18 miles.

Both loops went predominantly through the Presido into the City. The first loop went into Golden Gate Park (Stow Lake) before heading back. It was another dark, foggy and damp morning for the first loop.

Fun in the Presidio

this was the line outside a bakery that just a few days ago was named "Best Croissants in the Country" by Bon Appetite! This was 30 minutes before the bakery was set to open.

The sun was just starting to peek through the clouds as we walked back into the Presidio around 10:30am

Second 9-mile loop

Today's second 9-mile loop brought us through the Presidio through the Lands End Trail with our halfway point being the Lands End Visitor's Center. It was a bit sunnier and warmer, but still only in the low 60s. Perfect walking weather!

This is the same field in the Presidio where I took a photo back in late March. We had a wetter winter here, and this same field had been green and filled with wild flowers then. Now, it's super dry!!
