After we got off the Kiwirail train, we drove 1/2 hour north on teh coast to Punakaiki. Punakaiki is best known for its Pancake Rocks and Blowholes. The Pancake Rocks are considered one of New Zealand's most spectacular natural landscapes. They are formed layer upon layer of water-sculpted limestone, resembling a stack of pancakes. (mmmmm... pancakes!)
We were really lucky with the weather. It was a bit overcast when we arrived, but not cold. As soon as we were back in our car, it started to rain.
