Getting the trees pruned

This morning, I had our trees in the backyard pruned. It's been almost two years since we've moved to our new home, and this was long-overdue. It's obvious that it's been a very long time since these trees (three cherry-plums and a loquat) have been properly cared for.

The loquat has especially had a hard time over the last couple of years. I assume it went through some trauma when the house and yard were being remodeled before we bought the house. There were several large limbs that had died, but others seem to be doing just fine.

I had a tree pruner come over a couple of weeks ago to look at the trees and give me an estimate. He suggested that we take down the dead branches of the loquat, give it some love, and see how it does over the next year or so.

We also gave each of the plum trees a good trim. They really needed it - especially the largest one in the back of the yard. We're hoping that this will help us from having another Plumpocalypse come July. :)
