Wallace Loves Canine Circus School

We had our third session of Canine Circus School, Level 2 today.

Both the instructors and I have noticed that Wallace seems more relaxed and excited at class than he was in Level 1. I think he really enjoyed Level 1- he was always happy to be there, and he loves learning, but he always looked so serious like he was concentrating the entire time. I don't have any photos of him smiling during Level 1, just serious faces, which I assumed was because he was concentrating, or was tired.

From the first session of Level 2, it was become obvious that Wallace is much more relaxed and seems to be enjoying it all even more this time around. He often has a smile on his face and loves visiting with both trainers when we can. He is also more confident, refining the skills we learned before, understanding some that we were taught in Level 1, but have clicked for him in the last week or two. He also seems to be picking up on new tricks quicker now that he has a better understanding of how things work. It remarkable to watch!!

So far in Level 2, we are learning how to walk backwards, walk backwards between the handler's legs, bow the head, unroll a yoga mat using the dog's nose, lay down, and how to balance a hackey sack ball on the nose. Wallace is coming along on all of these tricks quite well so far.

We are also reinforcing tricks we learned in Circus 1: spin (in both directions), sit pretty, bow, put two front paws on the Handler's bent knee/on a box, walk through a hoop, and walk around a cone.

Wallace already has quite a lot of tricks up his sleeve already, and is learning so many more!!

We have next week off for Labor Day, so we'll have a couple of weeks to work on our new tricks.
