We first came to the Neue Galerie about a year and a half ago, and just loved it. At the time, we didn't know to expect to see Klimt's "Adele Bloch-Bauer" and we were pretty overwhelmed when we saw it there.
Just about three weeks ago, Dick and I rented the movie, "Woman in Gold" about This very painting and the story of Maria Alttman, (niece of Adele in the portrait) story of fighting the Austrian government to return the painting to her family.
The movie was outstanding. When the film ended, Dick and I declared that now we must go back to New York to see the painting again.
And now we are here.
True story. :)
No photos were allowed inside the museum, so I grabbed one off the internet to show the painting. :)
