Westcoast Treetop Walk

Our last outing of the day was to the Westcoast Treetop Walk. It was something we were interested in seeing, and it turned out to be only 10 minutes from our lodging.

The Treetop Walk is fairly new - less than 2 years old. It is a series of steel catwalks, 20 meters high, and over 450 meters long. It took us about an hour to walk the entire loop. Along the route, there is a tower that is 40 meters above the forest floor. It was cool, but even I got a bit spooked by the height. I think it's because it is all open, with an open grate floor, and so high up that it swayed a bit in the wind.

Dick, however, had no fear at all! This is unusual, as he usually doesn't like heights, and I usually don't have a problem with them at all. :)

We decided that this would be a perfect location for Jurassic Park. With all of the indigenous trees and plants, it looks right out of the jurassic era. Really, all we needed were some dinosaurs roaming around below us. :)

I know you probably can't see him, but Dick walked back to the end of that trail to pose for another photo. :)
