Hobbiton Tour!!

Basically, the was the BEST tour we've even been on. What a special, magical place. It is all built on a 1,000 acre sheep farm in New Zealand, owned and operated by a family who worked out an agreement with movie studio who made the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies.

I took so many photos, so it will be difficult to choose which ones to show here, and even at that, I'm sure it'll be too many.

I don't have time right now to add captions, but will try to get to that soon. Captions have been added! You may recognize many of the particular places in the Shire from scenes in the films! :)

There are a total of 44 Hobbit Holes within the shire, all done at various scales, depending on which scenes/actors they were being used for. I took photos of many of them (not all shown here) but saw them all! They are all facades, but the doors do open a bit. You'll see props through the windows, and plenty of props and plants outside.

that large tree in the distance is the one that Bilbo's party was centered around in the first movie. It was the first thing that caught Peter Jackson's eye, and made him interested in this property as a filming location.
