Day 7- Santa Croce Church

We spent the morning/early afternoon at the Uffizi museum. It was a great collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures. Again, no cameras are allowed, so once again, no photos. Highlights included Botticelli's "Birth of Venus" and "Primavera" and Michelangelo's "Holy Family" among others, too many to mention. :)

After we finished at the Uffizi, we had nice pizza lunch before heading out towards Santa Croce Church. First, we went to the School of Leather at Santa Croce. My friend, Barry, has a friend there who is one of the owners and we thought it would be fun to meet her. Unfortunately, she wasn't working today, but we enjoyed looking through all of their fine leather goods.

From there we entered Santa Croce Church. It is a 14th century Franciscan church which holds the tombs of great Florentines. Among them, we saw the tomb of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, and even Marconi, the inventor of the radio.
