We spent the day in Arles, France today. The highlight of our walk around town was seeing four different spots around the city which were featured in well known paintings by Vincent Van Gogh when we lived here for 15 months. He produced over 300 paintings and drawings during his time here. He was also hospitalized here after having cut off his ear. (The hospital is the beautiful building with the courtyard in the last couple of photos).
None of the original paintings of these particular spots in Arles are displayed in this city. They are in other Museums around the World. Instead, the city has posted these signs featuring each painting in their specific areas of the city. Wonderfully executed concept that I thoroughly enjoyed!!
