First of all, it must be noted that we've been extremely fortunate with the weather since we've been in New Zealand. Most notably, today, in Queenstown/Milford Sound. This area (the wettest in all of New Zealand) has been getting an unusual amount of rain lately, and we've been told that today was the nicest day they have had in over two weeks. That was especially important and appreciated today because we took a 2-1/2 hour cruise on the Milford Sound. It was windy, and a bit cold (although temps were in the mid-60s) but it was just about as perfect as it could be. I don't think it would be nearly as beautiful and enjoyable in the rain or cold.
We were on a fairly large boat, and managed to get a really wonderful spot in the front. This area is just so gorgeous with all of the jagged-stone mountains formed by volcanoes and glaciers. I think I'd rate this as the most amazing boat ride we've ever been on. We were surrounded by majestic beauty the entire time.
We saw a few more penguins, some seals, and several waterfalls. It was all just so beautiful. I took so many photos, but managed to condense it to these here.
